Privacy policy
Oeste Surf is an independent editorial project. A full privacy policy is being prepared as the site and its features develop.
The contact form opens your own email app with a ready-to-send message — Oeste Surf's servers never receive or store what you type into it. The list-your-business form is relayed by email through Resend to Oeste Surf's own inbox and isn't published automatically or stored in any public catalogue.
For any question about privacy or data handling, please contact us directly at contact@oestesurf.com.
Analytics
Oeste Surf uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), provided by Google Ireland Limited, to understand in aggregate which destinations, surf spots and guides are useful to visitors. Analytics is off by default on every visit and only activates after you explicitly accept it in the cookie banner or in "Cookie settings" (footer, every page).
We never send any advertising or ad-personalization signal to Google — ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization always stay "denied", regardless of your analytics choice. There is no account system on this site, so analytics data is never linked to a name, an email address, or any other directly identifying information.
- What is collected, only once accepted: pages, destinations and spot guides viewed; chosen language (English/Portuguese); coarse device/browser category; a small number of specific product interactions (e.g. saving a spot, requesting directions) — never free text, never precise GPS location, never the content of the contact form.
- Cookies used, only once accepted: Google's own _ga and _ga_<container-id> cookies, used to distinguish visitors between page loads.
- IP addresses are truncated/anonymized by Google before storage.
- Withdrawing consent: use "Cookie settings" in the footer at any time. This immediately deletes the _ga/_ga_* cookies from your browser and stops any further analytics collection on this device.
- Data retention follows Google Analytics 4's own retention settings for this property — see Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy for how Google itself processes this data.
Planned for a future update
- A dedicated cookie table listing every cookie name, purpose and lifetime in one place.
